''AFTER MIDNIGHT'' / AMERICAN MUSIC THEATRICAL CONCERT SHOW

Nighttime. A shimmering sleeplessness.
Parallel realities, illusions. Dreams.
A game. A late-night touch.
Nightmares, sleeplessness. . .
Tenderness.

The surreality of sleep and the reality of awakening together with subtle and sometimes sudden transitions between these states will be a leitmotif of the programme 'After Midnight'. The singer and pianist Katrina Gupalo and the choreographer and dancer Gabija Bīriņa will explore experiences that range from sweet dreams to nightmares, from sanity to madness. A journey through subconscious terrains of mind will reveal passions, tenderness, paradoxical humour and self-irony. Unusual arrangements of classical compositions have been made for this event, they will be performed by one of the most sought-after and versatile Latvian pianists Andrejs Osokins and the percussionist Elvijs Endelis, known for his mastery of a wide variety of instruments, many of which will add special timbral colours to the programme. All these varied strands will be woven together by the singing of Katrina Gupalo, often characterised by dramatic contrasts and sensuality of voice, and by the expressive dancing, abundant in theatrical verve, by Gabija Bīriņa.
