Double bass is the largest string instrument with the lowest sound, which is used in today’s symphony orchestras, as well as an instrument that sounds great in concert halls as a solo instrument, especially when played by the brilliant double bassist Gunārs Upatnieks, who in recent years enjoyed dazzling success on the world music stage and has recently passed the two-year probationary period at the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, which programme consists of double bass “golden repertoire” Upatnieks partner will be pianist Agnese Egliņa.
