In a nuanced portrayal the concert will reveal the purity and harshness of Icelandic landscapes. We will witness eight works by Icelandic composers, including the programme composition "48 images of the moon" by Þuríður Jónsdóttir.
She received the impulse for the composition from her deep and thrilling impressions of one night of a full moon in Iceland during the summer solstice. Her feelings are put into a musically surprising and unusual piece, full of the mythical and magical nature of the moon. The composition has been performed and highly-acknowledged in Europe, as well as in Elbphilharmonie in Germany. In Liepāja, the composition will premiere with chamber musicians gathered specifically for the occasion.
