Koncerts / Ķeniņš un vēstules

The idea of this concert programme is based on the musical journey, which will be accompanied by fragments from the letters written by and to the Latvian composer Tālivaldis Ķeniņš, who is celebrating his anniversary of 100 years this year. The central composition of this event is rarely performed Concertante by T. Ķeniņš for flute and piano, and other compositions are written by Ķeniņš’s pen pals Helmers Pavasars and Olivier Messiaen. These letters will not only depict the historical aspects of the European 20th century, but also will help to get a better understanding of psychological condition of Ķeniņš during a The Soviet re-occupation of Latvia since the 1944. There are also four first performances provided in this concert programme by composers of new generations such as J. L. Adams, N. Daughtrey, J. De Cristofaro, G. Faar.

Concert will be performed by three outstanding chamber musicians – flutist Liene Denisjuka-Straupe, percussionist Elina Endzele and pianist Agnese Egliņa. Narrator – musicologist Dāvis Eņģelis.
