Exhibition The Taste of Colour is a unique chance to observe the latest work by Džemma Skulme. The artist created her works in 2016 and 2017, and they take the viewer aback by the grandiosity of their creative tasks. Ms Skulme admits that the pieces were created by enjoying the ‘fine, meditative feeling which overcomes a person when in the company of colours’, and at the same time ‘it is a resistance to all the pretty and nice methods’. Four of the exhibition pieces – ‘Alsunga’, ‘Kurzeme’ (Courland), ‘Princese’ (Princess) and ‘Es lidoju, es atsperos un tālāk lidoju’ (I fly, I vault, and fly on) – were only made this year, and Liepāja hosts their premiere.
