LAF. CINEMA RIGA IFF: Nowhere Special
We have created a cinema day within the Liepāja Art Forum at the locally-beloved Culture House Wiktorija in collaboration with the Rīga International Film Festival. Three powerful auteur films about themes of eternity and humanity, which will definitely leave no heart untouched in the age of loneliness and indifference.

CINEMA program in collaboration with RĪGA IFF:
  • September 25 at 3 p.m. About Endless
  • September 25 at 5. p.m. Nowhere Special
  • September 25 at 9 p.m. Corpus Christi
On the second screening of the day, we will see Italian director Uberto Pasolini’s Nowhere Special from 2020.

A young man raises his four-year-old son on his own. The father will soon have to say goodbye to his life and his son, but before then, he must manage to leave the boy with building blocks of life so strong that they can support him for the rest of his days. The idea of finding a new home for the boy is not an easy one. The closer the separation, the bigger the doubt. How do you evaluate strangers during a short meeting? How do you protect a loved one? He will have to make the most important decision of his life.

This is a film about the importance of childhood and the value of family. The dramatism of the situation in this story is stifling, but the melodramatic sound and sentimental notes are so subtle that the viewer enters a place of light and hope where the insignificant has no more chance of overshadowing the truly important.

Curator’s note: Pasolini continues to explore the intricate construction of sadness and speak of the eternal within the mundane.
