Dear attendees of the festival! Due to the prolonged emergency state in the country THE CONCERT IS POSTPONED to December 30th. The tickets purchased beforehand are still valid. Sorry for the inconvenience caused and see you soon!

The Festival will close with music by Beethoven, whose grand anniversary will be celebrated in 2020.

The programme will start with the “Fidelio” Overture and continue with Piano Concerto No. 4. It is one of the most beautiful works of this genre of all times – a surreal fantasy, conversation with pauses of silence, and moonlight, which take to a different reality. Armands Ābols’ intelligent, manly, considerate and refined musical thinking is perfect for playing this brilliant concerto.

Maija Kovaļevska will perform the longing aria of opera singer Floria Toska, the fragile story of Spanish girl Mikaela and of Parisian seamstress Mimi. We will be able to admire the orchestral colours and scope in the Overture of Verdi’s opera “Sicilian Vesper” and in fragments from Bizet’s “Carmen” and in Puccini’s quietly contemplative miniature “Chrysanthemums”.

The orchestra will be conducted by Aivars Lakstīgala who is well known to Liepāja audience and whose talent is blossoming in performing the emotional music of Romanticism as well as when interpreting the brilliant music by Beethoven.

Maija KOVAĻEVSKA – soprano
Armands ĀBOLS – piano
Conductor Atvars LAKSTĪGALA

Programme:

Ludwig van BEETHOVEN, Georg BIZET, Giacomo PUCCINI, Giuseppe VERDI
