Dear attendees of the festival! Due to the prolonged emergency state in the country THE CONCERT IS POSTPONED to December 28th. The tickets purchased beforehand are still valid. Sorry for the inconvenience cause and see you soon!

This will be a salon music concert similar to the concerts in the 19th century - a cosy atmosphere with musicians performing close to the audience and having similar thoughts.
Maija Kovaļevska, a favourite singer of Liepāja audience starts year 2020 with the role of Alise Ford at Hamburg State Opera and will continue with Mimi at Semperoper Dresden. In between there is Liepāja Festival where she will sing beautiful and contemplative songs by Lūcija Garūta and Jānis Mediņš. Armands Ābols, a Latvian virtuoso and a high school docent residing in Chile, will be at the piano in this programme. Maija and Armands have always wanted to perform together and now the dream has come true.

Armands will give a solo performance of Chopin’s popular nocturnes (night music) Opus 9, and a selection of Shumann’s “Children’s Scenes”. In turn, the Riga Chamber Choir AVE SOL male group will enrich the programme with Franz Shubert’s choir songs that are undeservedly rarely performed and range from idyllic scenes to sacral experience and back to the table songs.

Let us imagine a civic interior of the 19th century in Vienna or Berlin with porcelain, hangings, and muffled conversations; let us make ourselves comfortable and enjoy!
