Little Oscar has only about ten days to live. He is being taken care of by a nurse in a pink suit. And Oscar is playing a game - each day of his life he lives ten years of his life, thereby living a long, happy, fulfilling life. He grows up, becomes an adult, falls in love, gets married, experiences mid-life crisis, gets old. Oscar also writes letters to God each day. God will take notice of these letters and make the wishes come true.
The story "Oscar and the Lady in Pink" (2002) by the French author Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt (born 1960) is cleverly sad and movingly gentle. However, paradoxically it is also cheerful and offers a look at the illusory life with a full-blooded testimony.
