A concert for students (grades 1 -- 6) with the musical group Raxtu Raxti.
“Once, when times were good, a cat had a mill. It worked day and night: purr, purr, purr...”
It is the start of the wonderful fairy tale by Kārlis Skalbe, which has rightfully become a favourite among Latvians.
But now a new retelling of the fairy tale is presented by Raxtu Raxti with sound characteristic of Latvia, dance numbers choreographed by Liene Grava and video art by Gita Straustiņa.
Various characters of the fairy tale will set foot on stage: The white cat, the black cat, the devil, witches, the dog and the cow, the wife of the craftsman in the basement and the inspector, the old cook, princess Ilzīte and the feeble king.
The rich voices of Marts Kristians Kalniņš and Kristīne Kārkle will be accompanied by bagpipes, an accordion, a cello, a mandolin, a guitar and percussion instruments, as well as an antique harmonium.
But above all, the moral of the tale -- let joy prosper!
