This year, the program celebrating the Latvian Independence Day at the Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall has been entrusted to Jānis Šipkēvics and Reinis Sējāns, who have decided to give us an unprecedented opportunity – to experience a live performance of the project Ieklausies dvēseļu putenī (Listen to the Blizzard of Souls). Beloved artists like Intars Busulis, Jānis Aišpurs, Goran Gora, Linda Leen, Māris Mihelsons, bands Instrumenti, Cosmos, Sudden Lights, Latvian Voices, Musiqq, and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra with conductor Kaspars Ādamsons will perform songs that are important to all Latvians, played throughout times in almost every Latvian household.
Along with the release of the motion picture “Dvēseļu putenis” (Blizzard of Souls), its creators wanted to bring back and honor the songs of the Latvian Riflemen, reminding us of the great power and national pride music can hold. In 2019, an album of Riflemen songs was created featuring ten songs in arrangements by Reinis Sējāns. In Liepāja, they will be particularly magnificent, performed in new symphonic arrangements by Andris Sējāns. The project Ieklausies dvēseļu putenī will shine in its symphonic glory thanks to the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.In the second part of the concert, we will celebrate the independent state of Latvia. The soloists will perform songs united by themes of love for our land, our country, our nation, and our roots.
