Since 1994, the forum has been organised worldwide within the framework of the global initiative "Hors-les-Murs". It brings together both IRCAM Forum members (60,000) and other interested parties – composers, independent artists, students, music professionals and sound technology experts – to share experience and innovations through various lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations.
Over the past ten years, IRCAM Forum workshops have taken place in countries such as South Korea, Brazil, Taiwan, Argentina, China, the United States of America, and Chile.
The forum is organised by IRCAM, a department of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, in collaboration with the Liepāja Concert Hall “Great Amber”, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Riga Technical University Liepāja Academy, and the French Institute in Latvia and Paris. The event in Latvia is of particular significance, as this is the first time that the international edition of the IRCAM Forum workshops will be held in Europe.
