Concert series PERSONALLY

In the spirit of Mother’s Day, the chamber music series Personally of the Liepāja Great Amber Concert Hall will feature a concert by vocal quartet Faraualla, offering a concert program dedicated to nature and current events. The four delightful voices will perform songs that bring together the different cultures of the world, the fragility of man, hope and light.

The quarter’s latest album Culla e Tempesta (Cradle and Storm), which will be performed in Liepāja, is a dedication to nature and children: ‘The Sea is a Cradle and Storm. Nature, mistreated by man and never yielding, is a Cradle and Storm. Children, the true victims of these dark times, who suffer without understanding why but who inexorably seek the joy of living, are a Cradle and Storm.’

These songs speak of poetry and of violence, of joy and sacrifice, war and resistance, fairy tales and harsh reality. In the interpretation of singers Gabriella Schiavone, Teresa Vallarella, Maristella Schiavone, and Loredana Savino, each composition has its own enchanting atmosphere, which the directness of voice and the power of expression presents with an unforgettable vivacity born in the Puglia region in southern Italy.

Mermaid echoes from the depths of the sea, words of worship in Latin and the rhythms of tarantella, a lullaby and throat chanting, the Italian resistance song ‘Bella Ciao’, even the hit song ‘Gasolina’ by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, and many other exciting, temperamental, and captivating pieces.

The vocal quartet Faraualla was founded in 1995. It unites four artists who have dedicated years to studying voice as an instrument, developing a special sound based on polyphony, improvisation, and folk music roots. Faraualla regularly perform at the most prestigious European and world festivals: MITO SettembreMusica (Italy), Festival Musicale del Mediterraneo (Italy), Rhino Jazz (s) Festival (France), and they often collaborate with notable composers and orchestras. The ensemble’s music is also featured in numerous film and theater projects.
