On 11 February at 7.00 p.m. in the concert hall “Lielais dzintars” room “Civita Nova”, on the 6th floor, chef Ēriks Dreibants invites gourmets, cooks and those who simply love to cook, to a fish and seafood masterclass – degustation, to share his experience in the preparation of fish dishes, as well as to provide practical advice and to answer the questions asked by those who are interested.

Participants of the masterclass will have the opportunity to enjoy a five-course degustation dinner, accompanied by their author’s – chef Ēriks Dreibants’ – stories, suggestions and advice. In addition the sommelier of the restaurant “Tinto” will serve specially selected wines for each dish and will provide useful information about wines that are appropriate for enjoying with fish dishes.

The interesting menu of the cooking course will introduce you to a five-course meal: smoked herring, lightly salted smelt, preparation and serving of pike perch and cod fillet, as well as you will have the chance to taste each of the dishes.

And every gourmet will have the opportunity to enjoy the dessert with the addition of the healthy and mild black garlic.

Chef Ēriks Dreibants will offer the participants of the masterclass – degustation the following menu:
•     smoked herring cream with beetroot foam, hazelnuts and apple,
•     lightly salted smelts with pickled Jerusalem artichokes and celery sauce,
•     fried pike perch fillet with bream croquette and crayfish sauce,
•     fried cod fillet with snap peas, parsnips and horn of plenty mushrooms,
•     black garlic and chocolate muffin with cloudberry sauce.

Chef Ēriks Dreibants’ fish and seafood masterclass is taking place within the Smelt Festival.

As reported before, for the second year in a row, residents of Liepāja and city guests have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most interesting winter events for families and children – “Smelt Festival in Liepāja”, which will take place on 13 February from 11.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. at Tirdzniecības Channel, in the Old Levee. In addition to the Festival a smelt ice-fishing competition will also take place.
