Double bass is the largest string instrument with the lowest sound, which is used in today’s symphony orchestras, as well as an instrument that sounds great in concert halls as a solo instrument, especially when played by the brilliant double bassist Gunārs Upatnieks, who in recent years enjoyed dazzling success on the world music stage and has recently passed the two-year probationary period at the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, which programme consists of double bass “golden repertoire” Upatnieks partner will be pianist Agnese Egliņa. At the same, to make the atmosphere even more ”double basser” Valmiera theatre actor Mārtiņš Meiers will feature with excerpts from Patrick Süskind’s monologue The Double Bass.
