CURATOR ANDRIS VĪTOLIŅŠ
SOUND MAN
Building at the corner of Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela and Peldu iela
ARTISTS DAINIS RUDENS, ĒRIKS CAUNE
A man so into music – all the way to the tips of his hair. Is he a composer? Or a conductor? It doesn’t matter; as long as the music keeps flowing from him!
LIBAU-HALIFAX-LIBAU
ARTIST AIGARS BIKŠE
Building at the corner of Kūrmājas prospekts and Graudu iela
Her great-grandfather – Jānis Liepiņš, a revolutionary – fled the Russian Empire in 1906, – heading for freedom on the Libau-Halifax steamship (Libau is the old German name of Liepāja). She – Milda, a young, black Latvian woman has returned to Liepāja after 109 years. Does Milda understand us? Does Milda speak Latvian? Does she follow the wisdom of Latvian folk traditions? She is different; and yet – the same as any other young Latvian girl searching for her roots in the 21st century.
The work has been created with the assistance of historian Gunārs Strenga.
IN THE NAME OF THE ROSE
Square by Liepāja University, at the corner of Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela and Avotu iela
A knight – performer of noble deeds, prepared to sacrifice himself even in the name of the rose. Is being a knight destiny, obligation or a mission?
