Starting from March 24th art venue Civita Nova located in concert hall“Great Amber” presents works by five Latvian artists under the title Searchings.
Along with large scale paintings, the exhibition includes finely animated plasticine landscapes, playful ready-made mise-en-scènes and sculptures saturated with subtexts. Searchings within this contexts can be revealed on many levels – they’re very practical solutions concerning form, material and means of artistic expression, as well as socially active commentary on current events and deviations of society, and spiritual quest. These objects claim to be perceived as something similar to road signs showing the way to a place that isn’t attached to physical reality – a place without the junk of pop culture, corrupted politicians, pollution of the urban environment and the individual thought.
Up until summer the citizens and guests of Liepāja are welcome to get to know the multimedia works by Kaspars Teodors Brambergs, Ginters Krumholcs, Liene Mackus and locals Egons Peršēvičs and Andris Prigičevs.
