In the Christian world the time of Great Lent associated with the suffering of Redeemer and death on the cross. It is time when people forcing to think about trust and betrayal, sin and regret, suffering and self-sacrifice, compassion and forgiveness. This dramatic Biblical theme is particularly telling incarnated sacred music inspiring notable composers to create impressive and emotionally saturated compositions (Passion, Stabat Mater, etc.) in the history of world music.
