Creation, mistakes, failure, not being afraid to be different. How can a young person come to realize that a perfect plan isn’t the key to success? All the value lies in the process—not being afraid of what might happen and, riding a wave of inspiration, giving the best you can at that moment—young people are encouraged to view making mistakes as an opportunity.
In the concert program, poet Kirils Ēcis, Liepāja Poetry Slam winner Linda Skranda, poet and beatmaker Edvards Kuks, and a group of musicians from the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will guide the audience through this shift in perspective via poetry, music, and electronic sounds.
Linda Skranda (Ulāne) writes: “When I think about young people, I’ve recently become fascinated by mistakes and failure. As a youth worker, I’m exploring something I call the ‘art of failing’ (through a clowning approach, which is actually a very serious endeavor). Do I allow myself to fail? Do I allow young people to make mistakes? Just this morning, I was drinking coffee and reading Rodari’s 'The Grammar of Fantasy', where he talks about how making mistakes is not (just) learning, but creation.”
Target audience for the concert: Students in grades 10–12.
