Together with the Symphony Orchestra of Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music, Conductor Pēteris Plūme, the best singing actors from Latvian theatres will perform in the concert - Ieva Puķe and Ģirts Rāviņš (Valmiera Drama Theatre), Ērika Eglija and Gints Andžāns (Dailes Theatre), Edgars Pujāts and Inese Kučinska (Liepaja Theatre), as well as actors from the National Theatre Līga Zeļģe and Uldis Siliņš.

“When I sing passages from musicals, I am very excited because I don’t do it frequently, but at the same time I am delighted by the beautiful, inspiring music and I return to my study years when together with our excellent vocal coach Anita Garanča, who sadly, has passed away, we worked on popular music scores,” says actress of Valmiera Drama Theatre Ieva Puķe; and actor of Liepaja Theatre Edgars Pujāts adds that musicals are very familiar to him as his debut on the stage of Liepaja Theatre was actually a musical “The Fantastic”. “Therefore, I feel very close to classical musicals,” Edgars adds.

Actor of Dailes Theatre Gints Andžāns is also eagerly waiting these concerts as he considers it a great honour for an actor to perform in the accompaniment of a symphony orchestra. “But the biggest challenge will be to sing songs from popular musicals once performed by excellent artists, and sing them as well as they did. I am very satisfied that people want to hear this music and it also lives on after the end of the performances,” says Gints Andžāns.
