The Liepāja Theatre festival “Theatre in Close-Up” was established in 2025 and and is envisioned as an annual international event. Its programme features theatre productions from the Baltic Sea region, alongside discussions, presentations, play readings, and other activities, some of which are free of charge. The festival aims to introduce audiences to theatre-making processes while offering professionals and enthusiasts space to reflect on artistic practices and challenges. This year, it will take place from August 20 to 23, presenting performances from Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, and Estonia, as well as one production by Liepāja Theatre.

This is a story about a mother and a daughter waiting for the end of the world. Around them, something is off. Meanings gather in the wrong places, patterns begin to form. At home, the mother prepares her young daughter for a world after Armageddon. The daughter tries to keep up, trying to tell the difference between love and fear. Mother, Dear is a tragicomic story about loneliness, belief, and the thin, shifting line between two people who no longer live in the same world. Welcome to a home where the apples are saved for the end of days.
