Grand jubilee concerts of the composer Imants Kalniņš have taken place at the Liepāja Concert Hall “Great Amber,” featuring performances by interpreters of his music

Last weekend, the Liepāja Concert Hall “Great Amber” hosted two grand concerts celebrating the 85th jubilee of the composer Imants Kalniņš, titled “For Imants Kalniņš – 85. An Eternal Milky Way Overhead.” In these special concerts, which were received by the audience with standing ovations and sing-alongs, Imants Kalniņš's most beautiful melodies were performed in interpretations by the bands “Turaidas Roze,” “Autobuss debesīs,” “Raxtu Raxti,” and “Menuets,” singer Aleksandra Špicberga, musician Jānis Strazdiņš, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Andris Veismanis), and other artists, offering an emotional journey through the composer’s creative life: “Svētku diena” (Celebration Day), “Saulgriežu cikls” (Solstice Cycle), “Ar straumēm uz jūru” (With Currents to the Sea), the Finale from the feature film “Pūt, vējiņi” (Blow, Wind, Blow), “Lilioma dziesma” (Liliom's Song), “Overture in F major,” and other compositions. The concert was supported by the Liepāja municipality.

The same program will be performed at the Dzintari Concert Hall on July 3, 2027, while the 50th anniversary of the legendary Imantdienas and the 820th anniversary of the town of Cēsis will already be celebrated on July 25 at the Cēsis Castle Park Open-Air Stage with the participation of a large cohort of artists.
