Three Latvian musicians, violinist Paula Šūmane, violist Jevgēnija Frolova, and cellist Anna Veselova, once traveled to Austria to continue developing their musical skills. Like many others, they were enticed by Vienna, the capital of music where many brilliant composers have lived and written numerous masterpieces.
The musical traditions of Vienna, which the artists explored in detail, and the exceptional spirit of this culture metropolis inspired the trio to dedicate a program for a string trio to this city on the bank of the Danube, which will illustrate the exciting and lively Christmas time.
At the heart of the program is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s monumental Divertimento in C major, which inspired Ludwig van Beethoven’s early String Trio in D major. Along with the opuses by the Viennese classicists, we will also hear String Trio D. 471 by brilliant master of Romanticism Franz Schubert.
