The exhibition "Intuitive Metaphors" is on display at the concert hall "Great Amber".

2026

On May 16, Kristīna Elettra Rubīne’s exhibition "Intuitive Metaphors" was opened in the 1st-floor community space "Stay-tion" at the Liepāja concert hall "Great Amber". It offers an experience of art as a living organism and invites visitors to pause in this moment of transformation—a place where thoughts become visible and material becomes the language of intuition.

"I like that my works are not flat; they have texture, a 3D effect. Today, we live in a condensed environment; we are surrounded by so much of everything – both information and images. And my desire is to constantly cleanse and create a pure form, but at the same time, I create a wide space where the textile extends the painting. These are like webs that continue, because I want this to be a journey for the viewer, not only on the level of the image but also on the level of feelings," said Kristīna Elettra Rubīne at the exhibition opening.

The artist combines traditional painting principles with experimental techniques – dot drawing structures, textile interventions, woven plant stems, and other materials, creating a multilayered visual and tactile space.

Fiber paper, felt, soy wax, embroidery, dried plants, and other natural elements become conceptual stories embodying the ideas of time, fragility, and transformation. The material introduces the cyclical nature of environment, the potential for biodegradation, and natural impermanence into the works, inviting reflection on the mutual impact of humans and nature at a time when ecological awareness is becoming an essential dimension of contemporary art.

The exhibition combines paintings, collages, and drawings from various stages of the creative process, revealing the evolution of the artist's thinking. Many drawings are being shown to the public for the first time, allowing viewers to see the origins of the works – the impulses of intuition that later materialize into spatial structures and compositions.

The exhibition is open to visitors free of charge until September 20 during the concert hall's working hours:
Monday to Friday: 11:00 – 17:00
Saturdays and Sundays: 10:00 – 15:00

The exhibition is supported by the Liepāja Municipality.

The creation of the "Stay-tion" space was made possible thanks to the support of Latvia's leading environmental services group AS "CleanR Grupa", the Liepāja Concert Hall "Great Amber" Development Association, the Liepāja State City Municipality, the foundation "Liepāja 2027 Foundation", and the association "Development Platform YOU+".
